| In 1847 Mason Cartier founded the renowned Cartier Jewellery Company which over the proceeding years grew and flourished, his three grandsons eventually took over the company further expanding the business. Production of the Cartier fountain pens started in 1924.
In the late 1930s Marlene Dietrich was known to prefer her Cartier fountain pen obove other makes and was featured in advertisments promoting pens from the Cartier series. This very rare early 1930s Cartier fountain pen and propelling pencil combination is produced in gold on silver and engraved sterling plus one quarter thickness 14 carat gold. Ink filling is by bulb method, spare leads for the pencil end can be supplied. The medium point size 14 carat gold nib is by W S Hicks and son. |
