Description
A circa 1938 Swan model 100 85 in Snakeskin patterning. Mabie Todd & Co Ltd introduced these models in 1938 available in a new choice of colours ruby, green, silver grey and blue. The ball end pocket clip is nickel plated with the outline Swan emblem engraved on it, which is also engraved on the top of the pen cap. The ink filling method is by the black ebony side lever. A new ink sac has been fitted. The 14 carat gold Swan 1 broad point nib is in excellent condition. Mabie Todd & Company began fountain pen production in Britain in about 1907. The company survived throughout World War I but during the early years of World War II Mabie Todd London factory and offices were devastated. These snakeskin pattern pens are usually keenly sought after by pen collectors. A very collectible fountain pen also suitable for everyday use.
