| From 1904 to 1920 The Conklin Company ranked as one of the largest of the American manufacturers of fountain pens. This is the Conklin model size 311 crescent filler.
The crescent ink filling pen series were produced from about 1907 the early models had a clipless slip on cap, this the improved non leakable interior threaded cap version became available in or about 1917 replacing the earlier slip on cap models.
There were no pocket clips shown on the pen caps featured in the Conklin pens catalogues published in 1912.
There is no pocket clip fitted on this pens cap, but there is a small hole in the cap where a clip could be fitted, or where a clip might once have been.
