| An early 1920s Conway Stewart lever filling model fountain pen patent number 235447 registered in October 1924 by Conway Stewart and Geo F Smith. The patent was accepted on 18th of June 1925, the design being a side lever that incorporated a means of locking the lever in the closed position. In the years between 1909 and 1920 Conway Stewart Garner and Jarvis manufactured fountain pens only for other companies.
Engraved on the barrel of this fountain pen is JARROLD'S BORROW PEN with the noted engraved patent number 235447. The gold lock down secure side lever has the entwined initials CS trademark engraved on the levers lifting end. A clipless pen manufactured in vulcanite or ebonite black hard rubber material and finished with a machine chased patterning. The authentic 14 carat gold warranted nib which is in excellent or as unused condition has a broad italic point.
Despite being some 82 years old there is no wear apparent on this pen, its condition today is much as it would be when sold in the early 1920s. A rare fountain pen. |
