Conway Stewart Black Universal Pen

A rare early classic model 479 Conway Stewart fountain pen manufactured in black vulcanite material and finished with a chased pattern of close fine wavy lines. Production in this style of the model 479 is thought to have ceased by 1938, although a reintroduction of the 479 with a pocket clip but without a trim band was one of the five permitted wartime models made, this type remained in production until about 1950. Ink filling is by side lever method. A new rubber ink sac has been fitted. The authentic Conway Stewart 14 carat gold nib is a medium point size. Clearly engraved on the pens barrel section is the standard wording The Universal Pen, Conway Stewart London. A rarely found model and in excellent condition.
