The novelist Charles Kingsley wrote this classic narrative of the exploits of Hereward The Wake an English soldier from Lincolnshire who in the year 1066 rebelled against the Norman conquest. A rare original 1931 first publication of this story by Collins Pocket Classics having the original Waterman fountain pen advertisement on the back cover. The accompanying early 1930s Waterman fountain pen is very attractively coloured in black with mottled shades of golden fawn brown reflective pearl highlights. The 14 carat gold Waterman Ideal type 2A medium point size nib is in perfect condition. Ink filling is by side lever method a new rubber ink sac has been fitted.
