Description

SOLD. Namiki fountain pen with samurai helmet maki-e circa 1920s. In 1927 the English representative for Namiki Japan had a retail shop at 91 to 93 Bishopsgate London, but by about 1930 a joint venture agreement between Alfred Dunhill and Namiki of Japan was launched and London retail showrooms were then located at Duke street St James's and at Notting hill. As is the case with many of the early period Namiki fountain pens this pen is not signed by the artist, the main artwork is superb showing the battle helmet of a Samurai warrior with varied small flower leaf decoration. The trim band on the pens cap section is in 14 carat gold. The Namiki 14 carat gold size 3 nib has a broad point, the nib is not iridium metal tipped. A new rubber ink sac has been fitted. A short size pen measuring 10 .5 cm. with the cap in place. Please see item 655223 Dunhill Namiki fountain pen in black urushi lacquer
