| On the 8th of July 1937 The De La Rue Company announced their new method for making a selection of beautifully patterned partly transparent fountain pens, these soon became all the rage for the elite pen fanciers of the period.
The pens barrel section is produced by compressing interposed layers of partly transparent and partly opaque materials, this unique lamination process creates the mesh pattern which is sufficiently transparent to enable viewing the level of ink within the barrel section. The cap is also in mesh transparency with a light emerald green tint.
A feature of these Plunger ink filling method pens is the ink flow cut off valve designed to ensure that there is no ink leakage when the pen is not in use.
This top of the range model 6235 comes fitted with an extra large 14 carat gold De La Rue Onoto size 3 nib, and sports five gold plated cap trim bands supporting the DLR engraved pocket clip. |
