The acclaimed Paker model 51 fountain pen with the propelling pencil and the ballpoint pen trio set manufactured in tough black lucite material, this strong substance termed lucite was developed during the second World War and used in the manufacturing process of bomber aircraft turrets and in the frontal nose section of the plane.
The state of the art Parker model 51 was launched in 1941 such was the futuristic design and functional mechanism of this classic pen that it was acclaimed as being ten years ahead of its time, hence the model number 51 instead of 41. Having quality thickness 12 carat rolled gold caps fitted with the longer length Parker arrow design pocket clips which replaced the slightly shorter clips from about 1960.
The specially made Parker 51 nib protruding from the protective forward hood section shows a medium broad nib in perfect condition. Ink filling is by aerometric pressure bar method accessed by unscrewing the pens barrel section. Spare pencil leads are easily available for the propelling pencil. A very nice scarce to acquire three piece set from the early 1960s. |
