The propelling pencil is the three pronged constant grip clutch design, this firmly grips the pencil lead, ejecting the lead is easily done by depressing the top of the pencil. The caps have the shorter length 3.7 cenitmetres chrome plated Parker arrow design pocket clips, generally the longer length pocket clips 4.4 centimetres were fitted on models made after 1960.
The Lustraloy caps are produced in matt finished stainless steel. Inset at the top of both caps is the silver plastic jewel stone symbolizing Parkers top quality. Ink filling is by aerometric pressure bar method. The tip of the exclusively made for the 51 series 14 carat gold Parker nib seen protruding from the forward hood section is tipped with a specially developed Plathenium material, a medium point size nib.
