A circa 1956 beautiful Parker model 61 Rainbow fountain pen. Parker firstly produced three types of Rainbow patterned caps for these model 61 pens. The 14 carat rolled gold cap on this pen is believed to be of the Custom design. The length of the cap is 6.2 centimetres and the length of the Parker arrow pocket clip is 4.4 centimetres. Inset into the top of the cap is the Parker silver gray pearl plastic jewelstone, with another inset into the end of the barrel tassie. The name given for this tone of colouring is difficult to precisely identify, but is believed to be the scarce colour tone called Rage Red. Ink filling is by capillary method, when the nib section is lowered into the ink the pen will fill itself. The nib protruding from the forward hood section is a scarce broad pointed nib in as new condition. Overall the pens length when capped is 13.5cm. Housed in a Parker poker dot pattern hinged presentation case. A highly sought after model by keen pen collectors. |
