Super model fountain pen manufactured in vulcanite hard rubber material. The 1921 style step design nickel plated ball end pocket clip and side lever are in perfect condition. A limited number of these pens were custom made by Mabie Todd and Co Ltd Swan Pens for Kenrick and Jefferson Ltd based in West Bromwich U.K. Once one of the largest of commercial printing companies in Europe, a special feature of these pens is the extra thick gold nib which was purposely made enabling this pen to be used on multi page up to 12 leaves carbon paper duplication forms each paper sheet having a carbon copying sheet in between, effectively a dual purpose fountain pen for normal writing and or for use on carboncopy forms. Kenrick and Jefferson were a paternalistic company only proven loyal employees were given one of these fountain pens. Engraved on the gold nib is the K and J initials emblem, with the full company's name engraved on the pens barrel. Ink filling is by side lever a new ink sac has been fitted. K and J once probably the largest of printing companies with further ownership of subsidiary companies atrophied over the years finally closing down only some three years ago. A good quality fountain pen of historical interest. |
