| A Friedrich Soennecken classic fountain pen in silver overlay with a Sonnecken medium point nib. Circa 1935.
The Sonnecken company was established in the German University town of Bonn. By 1890 the Soennecken Company were the first to manufacture safety pens and fountain pens in Germany, as well as manufacturing its own design of gold fountain pen nibs.
This pen has a uniquely designed piston ink filling mechanism incorporating an ink reservoir view section. The nib is a 14 carat 585 gold authentic medium point size Soennecken nib of the flared wing design type, a design style adapted by Montblanc. An exceptionally rare fountain pen, when capped the pen overall length is 4 and 1/4 inches or 11cm. In excellent condition and working as normal. Virtually an exhibition piece of writing instruments of the era.
The Soennecken series were undoubtedly the best German pens of their time. The company's factories in Bonn were utterly destroyed during the war. A rare pen which would grace the collection of any classic fountain pen collector enthusiast. |
