Rare Wyvern 50 Fountain Pen

A very rare early 1920s Wyvern model 50 fountain pen in its original presentation box with the paper leaflet headed Instructions. Manufactured in black vulcanite material. Having the proper warranted 14 carat gold medium point size nib. This pen is in exceptionally good condition showing no signs of use. Ink filling is by aerometric rubber sac pressure bar method. By the turn of the eighteenth century based in Leicestershire the Wyvern fountain pen company had become established in the midlands of the U.K. The company derived its trade name Wyvern from the mythical two legged barbed tailed Dragon, featured on the heraldic coat of arms of Leicestershire, a Dragon frequently reported after pub closing times as having been seen in the vicinity. The Wyvern fountain pen company ceased business in 1955. For enthusiast fountain pen collectors this is undoubtedly an exceptional rarity.
