| Founded in 1928 as the Tiku company which name originated in part from the term Kuli meaning labourer or implying a working pen, produced stylograph pens which were claimed to be an improvement on the glass nib drafting and writing pens made in the 1930s.
By 1953 then based in Hamberg the company focused on the production of their range of Rapidograph pens, Rapid implying fast writing designed formost as a draughtsmans and or artists drawing instrument produced under the name Tinton Kuli. In 1968 the company name was changed to Rotring.
Known mostly for their top quality range of drawing and drafting pens from about 1987 Rotring launched an impressive series of fountain pens. This early 1990s model Rotring fountain pen is as new unused, having a medium point ball tipped steel nib. Ink filling is by ink cartridge method.
