S Mordan 9 Carat Gold Pencil 1850s

A circa 1850s Mordan and Company gold pencil hallmarked SM and Co. 9 carat gold. Having a heptagon barrel. The method of fitting replacement leads is not clearly determinable, pressing on the circular spring loaded section seen at the top of the barrel may project the front lead holding conical shaped section this appears to need servicing.
