SOLD. A late 1970s ST Dupont Paris elegantly styled classic model fountain pen. Attractively coloured in shades of marble brown authentic natural Chinese lacquer skilfully applied by hand. This process is an acquired technique, a specialised art applied under stringent conditions. On the end of the pens barrel there are two Chinese characters denoting the artist. The gold metal trim is French hallmarked 925 carat gold. The medium point ST Dupont nib is in 18 carat gold. There is a separately contained spare nib moulded in a complete replacement forward section. Ink filling is by ink cartridge. The pen is personalised by having its manufacturing number engraved along the side of the pocket clip, this provides positive identification. On the back of the cap there is a pinhead size circular mark, possibly a air vent. Complete in its shot silk lined presentation case, and unused. The pens overall length with the cap on is 5 and 1/4 ins or 13.4 centimetres. Sheer quality.
