A circa late 1960s Sheaffer Desk fountain pen in dark brownish cordovan leather colouring mounted on an onyx plinth, the plinth base measures 19cm by 10cm. 7.5 inches by 4 inches. And weighs heavily at 1250kg or 2 lbs 12 ounces. A blank silver plated metal plaque is fixed central of the onyx plinth for presentation engraving if required. The pens ink filling system is by piston pump method, accessed by unscrewing the tapered end section of the pen to extract the filling rod, ink filling is completed on the down stroke by re inserting the rod into the barrel. A new ink filling sac has been fitted. The 14 carat gold inlaid nib, the inlaid design introduced by Sheaffers in 1959 has a fine to medium minute ball tipped point making this pen suitable for either left or right handed writers. In as new condition. Inset into the tapered end section of the pen is the Sheaffer white dot guarantee symbol. A superb quality desk pen. |
