A 1952 model Sheaffer Statesman with a medium point size palladium silver nib.
Known as the snorkel touchdown pens, these models incorporate a complex ink filling mechanism to operate the retractable snorkel tube which projects and retracts axially through the ink feed on the underside of the nib, allowing the pen to be filled from the ink bottel through the projected tube.
The mechanics fitted inside the pens barrel reduce the size of the ink holding reservoir, the pen then requires re-filling more frequently.
A slimline design based on the shape of the submarine torpedo.
