SOLD. A circa 1915 Watermans model 52 fountain pen. The model 52 was one of the earliest lever filling pens introduced by Watermans in 1913. One of the most popularly used by soldiers during World War one for writing their letters from the trenches to their loved family back home. Manufactured in black hard rubber material with a chased patterning of waves divided with plain lanes. Ink filling is by side lever method a new rubber ink sac has been fitted. Having a nickel plated boxed type lever which has the IDEAL globe emblem engraved on it. The engraved manufacturers wording WATERMANS with the IDEAL globe emblem is sharp and clear appearing as if newly engraved, last engraved patent date shown as August 4th 1909. The Watermans IDEAL New York fine point gold nib is in perfect condition. When capped the pens overall length is 13.6 centimetres. Most of these earlier models were without fitted pocket clips. Detachable clips were available to buy separately. One can be supplied if requested. This pen is in superb condition.
