| Large and heavy solid sterling silver. The images shown of this classic fountain pen and ballpoint pen set were not professionally photographed, the real pen set looks very much better.
Taken from the Watermans Man 100 variations this is one of a limited edition of 5000 pieces produced in 1985, the identical fountain pen only, but in solid gold, today would be priced from 10,000.Dollars. Inset into the silver top pieces of the pen caps there is a disc of gold with the script style letter W emblem engraved in black.
The impressive visual appeal is further enhanced over the whole of each of the pens in that the end section of the barrel part and the nib holding forward section continue the deep fluited lines of the Godron pattern. The fountain pen nib is of the earlier design in 18 carrat gold 750 two tone rhodium plated, engraved with the IDEAL trademark, a fine to medium point size nib further engraved with the wording Paris France, these earlier nibs write more smoothly and are more responsive with a good degree of more flexibility than later made nibs that have vertually no flexibility, being stiff.
Ink filling is either by ink cartridge or by piston action converter method. The fountain pen is quite large measuring 14.3 cm. capped and 16.7cm. posted.
Each pen is stamped with the silver hallmark and guarantee mark confirming their authenticity. This is a classic limited edition two pen set, rare to obtain them togeather as a set, the Godron design fountain pen with the ballpoint pen from 1985 and in unused as new condition. |
