Picks Catalogue reference M25 China. Three Japanese 5 Yen notes issued 1938 to 1944 Juring the Japanese occupation of China, also circulated in Hong Kong. These 3 notes are extremely rare as they have the type 1 Hiragana Canton overprint hand stamp shown within the inset enlargement in a purple coloured 10mm circle. Two of these three notes have a different hand stamp Hiragana which is not yet identified in Picks catalogue. Portrait is of Sugawara Michizane.
