Description
The emblem from the shield of the coat of arms of the English midlands town Leicester. The Wyvern Leicestershire dragon is engraved at the top of the pocket clip and on the 14 carat gold medium point size authentic nib In 1928, the Wyvern company started manufacturing their own gold fountain pen nibs and may also have supplied nibs to order. Due to the shortage of skilled labour and materials production ceased throughout the years of World War II recommencing and expanding again to full productionin by 1947. However, after a rather short run of only some eight years the Wyvern company stopped producing fountain pens in 1954. Amazingly here is a new unused 1949 Wyvern Prefect with the original price band still glued round the pens barrel section showing the late 1940s shop price of eleven shillings.
