| Mounted on a thick block of clear glass with a bevelled edge this pen would form a focal point enhancing any antique or more modern period writing desk. Manufactured by the W A Sheaffer Pen Company of Fort Madison Iowa USA. Patent dates engraved on the pens barrel section cover the period August 1908 to November 1914. The original 1920s style gold Sheaffer nib has a very broad italic point and is engraved with the type number 5 and the number 30.
In America a limited production number of Sheaffer desk pen sets resembling this lifetime model were advertised in August of 1929. However, this pen does not have the Sheaffer white dot guarantee emblem engraved on the pens long tapering end section, which suggests that the pen would have been manufactured before the Sheaffer Company introduced their white dot guarantee emblem in 1924.
